New CE Requirements from DFS
ITI is aware of the change to CE requirements for all licensees effective 4/1/22. While our current course meets most of the new requirements, we are working with the DFS to make our offerings fully compliant well before this deadline.
Please note that the requirement, with regard to Flood Insurance, only requires 1 hour of CE credit, unless the licensee intends to sell flood policies. Flood insurance is in our course and we plan to expand it to meet this 1 CE hour threshold. As has been our policy in the past, we suggest that licensees intending to sell flood insurance complete their carrier specific required training.
We will also have a Diversity training component in place well before the deadline.
The final Regulation can be read here: https://www.dfs.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2021/09/rf9_amend6_txt.pdf
Thank you.

ITI News - Exam monitor exemption extended indefinitely!
Producers:
The New York Department of Financial Services has permanently extended the waiver of in-person monitoring of CE exams for New York insurance producers, however exams are still required for self-study courses. ITI continues to provide producers with a single 15-credit bridge course and exam to help you meet your CE requirement. Please note that the extension to renew your license has expired and you must complete your CE and renew before your license expires!
Producers now register to take their exam online, although a paper exam can be requested by mail. The course and exam are the same as our traditional format with a book available to download for review. Exams are taken at your convenience after a required 7-day study period. When you are ready to take the exam, simply log in with a password ITI provides. Most students complete the process in less than 30 minutes.
Since 1996, ITI has provided in-person course exams across New York to help licensees meet their insurance CE needs. We look forward to returning to our traditional in-person format at 30 locations around New York once the pandemic no longer threatens your health and safety.
We hope you continue to stay safe, wear a mask and wash your hands often.

If you hold a New York insurance license, you need to renew your DFS Cybersecurity Certificate of Compliance again in 2021. New York takes the threat of cyber attacks seriously and ITI believes you should too. So, what do you need to do?
There are no exceptions or exemptions to the Rule and all licensees must file, even those who are not active in the business, but continue to renew and hold their producer license. If you are not sure if you filed in 2020, you can review your status through the DFS Cybersecurity Portal https://myportal.dfs.ny.gov/web/cybersecurity/.
You can refer to the DFS assistance page in their Cyber Security Resource Center https://www.dfs.ny.gov/industry_guidance/cybersecurity.
You should note that this filing requirement is an annual event and you will need to do it again every year you keep your license. What is different for the renewal is you don’t need to file a “Notice of Exemption” again, unless something about your business has changed. Follow the same DFS Cybersecurity Portal path https://myportal.dfs.ny.gov/web/cybersecurity/ to complete the 2021 filing.
Please remember, we at ITI cannot help you complete your filing and we cannot tell you what exemptions may apply to you. Your questions are best directed to cyberregsupport@dfs.ny.gov, the Department of Financial Services Cyber Regulations Support Team.
We do hope this message helps you understand this important program a bit better.
Be well.
