Q.
My new license does not list all the "Lines of
Authority" as my expiring license did. Am I
still authorized to write the same business as
before?
A. Yes. Your new license grants
you the same authority to write business as
your expiring license.
New York State has made several changes to the
Licensing Law to meet reciprocity standards with
other states. These changes created some new
lines of authority and consolidated others.
- Your expiring license listed Fire, Casualty,
Ocean Marine, Inland Marine, Fidelity & Surety,
Baggage and Credit.
- Your new license lists Property, Casualty,
Personal Lines, and Baggage
Q.
When I attempt to login to the Online Renewal
system, my password is not accepted. What do
I do.
A. 1) You should first check to
see that you are using the correct license number.
The number follows your license prefix (LA, PC,
BR...)
2) Be sure that no space or other character
is inserted in between your last 4 social security
number digits and your date of birth.
3) If you are still unable to login, send
an email message to
coned@ins.state.ny.us requesting a
verification of your data. The Insurance
Department usually answers their messages within a
few hours.
Q. I attended a one-day class and
took a quiz to receive 16 CE credits. What
numbers do I use?
* Your Course Completion Certificate
indicates which course you took in BOLD LETTERS on
the upper right side of the document. Please
refer to your course certificates for the proper
number.
Q. How
do I get 16 hours of CE in one 8 hour day? A.
New York
State Insurance Law allows Licensees to complete
CE classes through Correspondence
Study with an exam completed in the presence
of a State Certified Monitor. Each ITI student
receives a self-study course book prior to their scheduled
class. ITI offers the exam prior to
beginning the classroom course.
Q.
What is the cost
of my license renewal? The application
form says to pay $80 and then mentions an
additional $10. A.
You should pay a total of $90 for your license
renewal, unless you are newly licensed and not
required to attend CE classes for your current
renewal.
